Department of Public health Dentistry organized and celebrated National Oral Hygiene Day 2023, on 1st August in which interns, PG students and faculty members of Department of Public Health Dentistry BBDCODS, Lucknow actively participated.

National Oral Hygiene Day is celebrated all across India on August 1st on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr.G.B Shankwalkar, the doyen of Periodontics in India. As part of the oral hygiene day, Department of Public health Dentistry took the opportunity to spread awareness and importance of oral health in the community by conducting a program in school on August 1st 2023.

The program was conducted on 1st august at 10:00 am in the school Jan Vikas Higher Education, Anora Kalan, Papnamau, Lucknow. The program was Organised by Dr. Anuradha.P (HOD), Convener-Dr.Sugandha Agarwal (Reader) along with Dr.Shweta Singh (Reader), Dr.Siddharth David(Sr. lecturer) , Camp coordinator Mr. Amrendra and Interns.

On the first day of program, the team conducted a screening program among school children of class X and XI. The talk on How to maintain Oral Hygiene was given by Post graduate student Dr.Pooja Yadav (JR-1). Questions were asked related to Oral hygiene among the students to create awareness among them.

Placards with Oral Hygiene quotes were made by our interns to encourage the students of the school about oral hygiene.

Toothpastes samples were distributed among the school staff and students for their better oral hygiene.

Its primary objective is to spread the message of Oral health and its importance and to curb the worrisome trend of neglect which has been one of the main causes for dental diseases. Nevertheless, the dental fraternity observes that the Oral hygiene of an average Indian has improved in the last decade.
